You don’t listen to everything. I do.

So you’re getting to know someone and you ask them what they listen to because that’s the most important nowadays. They say one word, “everything.” This is where you get angry because that helps no one. Seriously. How are you supposed to relate to them? They’ve given you nothing. Read on for how to fix this.
Here’s my 3 solutions to this problem:

1. Call them out on it- Ask them about genres that are extremely obscure or don’t exist. A favorite of mine is Norwegian Techno Folk. It usually trips people up. Some say, this is a dick thing to do. I’d agree with them. If you know the person can handle the sarcasm, this method is great. If its a chick/ dude that you’re trying to impress or get with, DO NOT ATTEMPT. You
come off as an asshole. I’ll say it again, avoid this if you’re trying to get with someone.

2. Ask them to elaborate- Simple but effective. Ask them for their top five favorite bands. This way, you show interest without getting too angry. Good luck.

3. Try to find common ground- Use your awesome knowledge of music (because you’re a hipster, aren’t you?) to find bands that you both enjoy. This way you show interest and you have common ground. Genius, right? I find this to be the best option with the opposite sex or whatever you’re looking for.

Good luck with those people that say they listen to everything.
