Earplay: Quality Headphones Matter

We've all been in a mood to just lie on our beds and listen to music. Just check out of life and enjoy the tunes of a great band. This can prove more difficult than it sounds. When you slip into "Music Land" and your headphones are crackling, popping and don't have a good mix of bass, mid and treble sounds, your music sucks. So I'm going to give you some tips for buying great headphones for just enjoying music

1. Don't use ear buds.
This is simple enough. The tiny speakers that you push to a max on a daily basis are going to die. They don't have the abillities that a traditional pair of over-the-ear headphones have in sound. I confess, I buy crappy ear buds. The cheaper the better is my motto when I'm in Wal-Mart. That doesn't mean that I don't have a pair of quality headphones lying around all times for when I want to enjoy music and I am not just putting my ear buds on to drown out my roommates snoring. You should do the same.

2. Comfort is key.
Just because they sound pretty doesn't mean that you can stand using that particular brand of headphones. Personally, I find Beats by Dr. Dre to be extremely uncomfortable, but that's just me so I don't buy them. When buying high class headphones, always look at your return policy to make sure that this investment is one you're not stuck with.

3. Try before you buy.
Leading off from last point, try out what you're looking into. Try other things. Get people's opinions. Look online. Be an informed consumer! Even if you know you can get your headphones cheap online, you should still waltz into a brick and mortar store to put the things on. Maybe they aren't comfortable or the bass is too weak for your ghetto fabulous music. I don't really care. Just don't spend money on the wrong product. Word to the wise on floor models though; they are usually war torn and aren't the best quality any more. This can be a positive because you can see what headphones stand up to the test of time.

4. Know what you're getting into.
Plato once spoke of seeing the light and not being able to go back. Once you step into proper audio performance, its hard going back. Trust me. I obsess over amazing audio. Soon you'll be looking at headphones like these which will then make you foam at the mouth because they sound awesome and are worth the money spent. If you don't want to know what I'm talking about, don't listen. And I'll leave you with that.
