I’ve talked about how to be proactive in the search for the perfect
beats in the past, but today’s lesson is in being reactive in the
journey of musical discovery and not being afraid to ask for some
guidance along the way.

You don’t listen to everything. I do.
So you’re getting to know someone and you ask them what they listen
to because that’s the most important nowadays. They say one word,
“everything.” This is where you get angry because that helps no one.
Seriously. How are you supposed to relate to them? They’ve given you
nothing. Read on for how to fix this.
Here’s my 3 solutions to this problem:

Ska Punk Revolution!
You haven’t heard of ska. Not until now at least. This crazy
genre is all about the fun. Not many ska bands take themselves
seriously. You’re probably wondering what the hell ska is, so I guess I
could tell you. its a mixture of a good ‘ol rock and roll band mixed
with the horn section from a jazz band. I know, I know, it sounds weird,
but does it sure sound nifty.

Album Spotlight: KABOOM! (I FIght Dragons)
If I haven't told you to listen to IFD yet, I'm sorry. I've done you a disservice. This is a great band that I believe most everyone can get into. They don't take themselves too seriously, yet they have such a strong sense of musicianship with their live use of various video game controllers to create an array of pretty noises for your ears. So kick back and enjoy my spotlight on I Fight Dragon's first full length, debut album KABOOM!

Freaking Awesome: Music Reccomendations for this Fantastic Friday
I've been checking out a ton of great music lately. So I want to share because music is not any good unless shared and enjoyed by mass quantities of music (except Nickleback, they suck regardless)

The Weekly Dig: Mumford and Sons
But I will hold on hope
And I won't let you choke
On the noose around your neck
And I'll find strength in pain
And I will change my ways
I'll know my name as it's called again

Earplay: Quality Headphones Matter
We've all been in a mood to just lie on
our beds and listen to music. Just check out of life and enjoy the tunes
of a great band. This can prove more difficult than it sounds. When you
slip into "Music Land" and your headphones are crackling, popping and
don't have a good mix of bass, mid and treble sounds, your music sucks.
So I'm going to give you some tips for buying great headphones for just
enjoying music

Being Less Mainstream Should be More Popular
HIPSTER HATERS LEAVE NOW. This blog post will get you up in arms and personally, I don't feel like playing host to a flame war. So anyways, I believe that the music industry is suffocating itself. These over produced, pop stars are what people crave now and the true musical talent is dying. I'm going to show you why you should be more hipster and listen to good music.

Musicals: The Combination of My Two Favorite Things
Last night, I finally saw the movie version of RENT. It made me think, "why did I hate musicals a few months ago?" They're the perfect combination of music, one of my major passions, and movies, something I am a fanatic about. The story is developed through the music, making the songs relevant to what I'm actually watching instead of some weird correlation the director thought would work in pre-production. I've also found that the plot to a musical easier to understand and remember though some would say that they are oversimplified or convoluted romps through fantasy situations. Some would also say that serious narratives can't take place within something based around a whimsical tune. To these people I say, you're wrong.
Thank you for reading my first real post on this blog, I think I've finally found what I'm going to use for it. Hopefully going to have biweekly updates starting soon. Check back for another update soon.

Is my life interesting?
So, I want to share my thoughts, but somehow I don't think people care enough to listen so I have a fundamental question, is my life interesting? Do I have something I can post about in length on daily basis? Maybe two to three times a week? I'm not sure. I know my micro information updates (ie. facebook, twitter) actually get some crowd appreciation based on likes and comments, but seriously, can I hold a reader's attention this long on a permanent basis and can I get a following? I would love to have a blog and post insightful and interesting things, but, do you care?
